Listen to RHAPSODY FOR TRUMPET
Gerhard Daum’s studio album Rhapsody for Trumpet blends elements of contemporary music, cool jazz and the film noir genre to form thirteen classy and timeless compositions. In this artist driven release, the composer and multi-instrumentalist features the trumpet as leading instrument for the first time. The clear and expressive trumpet voice presented shows associations to giants of jazz like Chet Baker and Miles Davis.
Rhapsody for Trumpet portrays a modern symbiosis of Jazz, New Classical Music, and music of the Film Noir genre. Composer and multi-instrumentalist Gerhard Daum presents contemporary compositions for trumpet, which he plays on all tracks, accompanied by piano, bass, drum, and strings.
Dick Metcalf, Music Editor says:
Gerhard’s offerings are always diverse, but this is the first time I’ve heard him doing tasty and tantalizing trumpet work […]. “Sleeping City” captures the very essence of after-midnight streets and urban crawls through cavernous skyscrapers… I will go so far as to say that this is the best trumpet piece I’ve listened to (yet) in 2020.
